The View
We're in California for a while, continues...
The blog is definitely going to get boring soon because there's not a lot going on now that we've moved to our new house. I will probably stop blogging every day unless something interesting happens. Well, interesting to me anyway '-) And then when we go back to London in February our life, and the blog, will get fun again.
Yesterday I forgot to include our first dinner after moving to Marin on Wednesday. We went to Boca in Novato. It is only 10 minutes away on the highway (which only takes us 10 minutes to get to). On the highway we passed the exit for Skywalker Ranch where we had been about a year ago. At the time we thought the area was beautiful and I said, "Wouldn't it be nice to live here?" and now we do. Wow.
After living in Berkeley for eight years it was nice to go to an actual steak restaurant '-) The restaurant was not exactly high-end and was a little chaotic but I was pleasantly surprised when the hostess seated us in a back room with just a few tables. It was almost classy. As you can see in the photo, there are paintings of dinner on the wall. The paintings actually are lovely but it's sort of something you don't want to think about too much. Unless that was the point. We are still in California, after all.
The steaks were incredible so we will definitely be going back. When I declined the dessert menu the waiter responded "Ok but you are probably the only person in this restaurant who can afford to eat dessert!" I guess I was the thinnest person in the restaurant. Hurrah! LOL.
The new house is all about the view. Yesterday was a rainy day and lots of fog. Ironically, the sunshine is one of the main reasons we moved here and there was none on our first day. But the views are gorgeous even with the fog as you can see in the photos. One interesting thing is that the fog is moving most of the time. That is something you don't notice from down below but we are up here where the fog actually is. Amazing.
Today, we woke up to blue sky and are delighted. You can see the ocean fog in the distance that usually doesn't make it over here before burning off so we're going to have a gorgeous day.
The last photo is the area at the top of the house where John and I have our computers. Something I thought about when we decided to leave Berkeley was how much we would miss our garden view. But it turns out we have a better view now and we are amazed.
